How Military Families Cope

When it comes to coping with changes in life a military family has a lot more to work through than the non-military family. First comes the change of the person leaving on the deployment. Followed by the change of having the person gone and working through the things life brings with out the help of the spouse. This is also the time when the stress of not knowing if the missing spouse is going to be coming home or not. Then comes the change of the person coming home and blending back into what the family routine has become. One of the worst things that a military family could have to cope with is the death of the deployed person.

A lot of spouses move closer to family to get some extra support while the soldier is gone. The spouses that stay around the base will get together to help each other and give support when needed. The base will have programs that the family can make use of to help out with things that come up. Some families turn to what every church they attend or other town agencies that offer help.

The Internet has made it nice for the military family to stay close. With web cams and email most soldier can communicate with their family on a daily basis. Phones in the field have also made it easy for soldiers to talk with loved ones and cope with the separation. A deployment is not the end of the world. Military families that stay together and deal with the stresses and challenges that come along will grow closer together than they ever could have thought. By overcoming the challenges of life alone both spouses will grow and learn things about themselves and become a stronger and better family.
